7th Friday –
Hunted this A.M. with 8 of the smartest little kids. They could understand what we said and they explained various foods and vegetation and really knew the jungle. Left for camp at 11:30, fifteen miles of rugged country, it just about done all of us. The trip was invaluable as to training our experience, but I wouldn’t want to take another for awhile. It seems that 5 or 6 days is all I can take of field rations. I was entirely off my food the last day and ate very little. At it’s best this was my most exciting and unusual experience.

8th Sat.
The day off for cleaning equipment and washing clothes. It felt mighty good to lay around. Played volleyball tonight.

9th Sun.
Rain and more rain, rested all P.M. and played ball in the rain this P.M. We lost 5-1.

10th Mon.
Nothing new. Hot as hell again.

11th Tues.
On guard at the Ocean Side. No news.

12th Wed.
Rested most of the day. Got the boxes off today – the boys bases and C.A.P. plane.
