26th Mon.
Hot as hell. Lt. Ratcliff is leaving tomorrow for the front. That means that it won’t be long.

27th Tues.
Nothing new. Hot as hell.

28th Wed.
Sent the box of articles home to-day. Wrote a long letter home and sent Marine one of the crosses.

29th and 30th
Nothing new on the New Guinea front. Sure have had a lonesome streak again.

July 1st
Another month starting in. I wonder how many more. Made Pfc. today. Well that is one step anyway. Saw Fred Astaire and Rita Hayworth in “You Were Never Lovelier.” A swell picture. It made me so very homesick. I wrote a love letter to Marine.

July 2 – Sun.
Washed clothes, finished the bases for the boys planes and made another that I am going to send the C.A.P. Leave on our trip tomorrow. Were issued all jungle equipment. I wonder what it will be like. Wrote a letter home. I sure get damn lonesome for home.
