18th Thurs.
Heavy showers this A.M. It was cool and refreshing but the sun came out afterward hotter than ever. Had fresh meat today for dinner and supper and iced lemonade. Went to a show and heard a reproduction of a Red Skeleton program and the technicolor film, “Buffalo Bill” with Joel McCrea and Maureen O’Sullivan [ed. actually O’Hara]. I liked it very much. Wrote a letter home. Haven’t missed a day except the day we moved. No letter from home. Why??? 10 men and 3 officers in the hospital. Dengue Fever.

  2. Just a typo: I think “afterword” should be “afterward.” And I think “fifty” should be “film,” unless it was a 50-min. film and referred to as a “fifty” (?).
