16th Tuesday
We are having beautiful weather now and the nights are wonderful. If conditions were different and my family were here it would seem like being on a vacation. I sure miss them. Still doing the same work. Played catch and cribbage and then wrote some letters. No letter from home for 3 days now. The other boys have started coming in.

17th Wed.
Still no letter from home. Hot as the devil. Old Hobson says “I wrote the old man that if he had any hogs living as we are he should sell them to keep them from suffering.” He also said, “If had a farm here and one in Hell, I’d sell the one here.” That’s how it is.
