14th Sunday
No day off here. There is too much to do. Am on carpenter work building a mess hall and kitchen. I got my first compliment. Lt. Herlin said “Chapiewsky, you are a damn good man. You can do most everything, and do it well. We are glad to have you.”

Good grub to-day. The rest of the Co. hasn’t come in as yet. Things seems to be going better, we are so busy. Played catch (hand ball) until dark. Spent the evening playing cribbage. Made ourselves coffee for evening lunch.

15th Monday
Still doing carpenter work. Scaffold broke down and two of us fell to the ground. Legs and arms were pretty well banged up, but after a little rest I kept on working. Took a bath and wrote 4 letters. Hot as Hell again today.
