5th Friday
On K.P. to-day, washing pots and pans. Steady rain and more mud. Been trying to write every day but there seems to be nothing to write. The first boys here must have gone thru hell. The Japs are ahead about 300 miles. They are still burying bodies here. Plenty souvenirs around in clothing and weapons and dud shells, but booby traps are set everywhere, and it isn’t safe to pick anything up. I don’t know what I would do with them anyway.
