May 2 – Tuesday
Pulled tents and set up pyramidals. I’m in 1st Sq. of Hdq. platoon. Trucks bringing in supplies galore [? illegible]. On water detail filling lister bags and mess hall cans. On C-rations. Went swimming in the ocean. Felt good after being dirty for 2 days. Rain again, everything is flooded tents and all. Worked for 2 hrs. digging ditches and dams to get water out and stop it from coming in. Put on clean clothes the first in a month. No lights so went to bed early. Some of the boys are on detail at guard and unloading trucks.

    • Huh, never heard of those before. I wrongly assumed they had to haul all their own water in, but I guess that wouldn’t really have worked very well. Updated, thanks!
