April 24 – Monday
Same old story. We are still at dock in Milne Bay. Sure is fun watching them load the ships, there is more activity here than anyone at home would ever dream about. Had our first decent meal tonight where we ate all we wanted. Fellows were giving a dollar for a candy bar and $5.00 for a can of peanuts. You can see how hungry we have been.

April 25 -Tuesday
Still here. Wrote 4 letters. Sure is wonderful to finally here[sic] from home. This must be a mail distributing base for New Guinea. The mail is flown in except 2nd class which comes in by boat. These letters made this: my happiest day.
