Oct 31
Washed 7 pr.[pairs?] fatigues and other personal things. Made $3.00 for this washing. Tried to call home for 6 hrs. Couldn’t get call thru[sic].

Another hectic week. Tired every day. The young fellows don’t seem to fair much better. New Lt. in charge of my platoon – Lt. Morris. Bayonet and grenades and mass drills were main subjects on the list. Wonderful weather. Food not so good. Really beginning to appreciate my home and family. Miss them a lot. Still have not been to town. No desires I guess.

    pairs, not private fatigues?
    more sure about bayonet, not bay out.
